REST IN PEACE: RIP BUSHWICK BILL ONE YEAR GONE. RIP

REST IN PEACE: RIP BUSHWICK BILL ONE YEAR GONE. RIP

Bushwick Bill in the studio, 2018. Photo by The Wolf (@RiotStyle).

Tough to think Bushwick Bill has been gone a year. There will be stories for another day but this is how we will always remember Bushwick: In the lab, hard at work on the next project, talking about taking care of his family.

Bushwick Bill would also want you to know: He was Jamaican.
— The Wolf

Bushwick Bill gone, but not forgotten.

RIP

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PRINCE! RESPECT TO THE PURPLE ONE! RIP

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PRINCE! RESPECT TO THE PURPLE ONE! RIP

A few words from The Wolf about Prince on the occasion of The Purple One’s birth, which occurred on this day of June 7th, 1958.

Prince IS Black Excellence. Prince could play 17 different instruments. Prince once put so much stank on a guitar solo that the guitar evaporated and Tom Petty shit his pants. Prince could dunk a basketball on Charlie Murphy and YES he could make pancakes.

When Prince wanted to change his name he said “FUCK YOU” to every single letter of the alphabet and invented a symbol. Prince paid Kevin Smith a sack of money to make a documentary about his house just so he could put it on a shelf and NOT release it (look it up!)

YOU will never be Prince.

Happy Birthday Prince
— The Wolf

Happy Birthday oh Purple One, wherever you are!

RIP

GEORGE FLOYD – NO JUSTICE NO PEACE! DEMAND JUSTICE FOR GEORGE FLOYD

GEORGE FLOYD – NO JUSTICE NO PEACE! DEMAND JUSTICE FOR GEORGE FLOYD

Police must be held accountable for the death of unarmed black men.

The police must stop murdering people of color for things like (allegedly) counterfeiting things or selling cigarette packs.

Demand justice for George Floyd. No justice, no peace. Know justice, know peace.

REST IN PEACE GEORGE FLOYD

REST IN PEACE JIMMY WEBB OF TRASH AND VAUDEVILLE / I NEED MORE NYC RIP

RIP JIMMY WEBB

“This was incredibly sad and difficult to write. St. Mark’s NYC retail fashion legend Jimmy Webb has passed away.

New York is much more the people than it is the buildings, and Jimmy was eternal. If you had ever worked or even set foot near St. Mark’s in a certain era you saw Jimmy. Jimmy was THE MAYOR. Jimmy was one of the first people to hook us and some of our bands up with clothes. Maybe you were lucky enough to get to know him a little.

There are so many things we associate with the height of the Trash and Vaudeville era of the East Village like the original Continental or Hijiki-Tofu burgers at Dojo. KIM’S! St. Mark’s Comics. But always Jimmy.

We dropped so many flyers for so many shows on that side counter. He had a way of making you feel like he was “in cahoots” with you. Like the two of you could run down the street and rob a bank together… if you just had the right pair of tight pants.

Jimmy is gone but Jimmy, his smile, his breathy laugh, if you ever seen it, it will never really be gone.

Rest in Peace Jimmy…”
— The Wolf (Riot Style)

“IF IT AIN’T TIGHT IT AIN’T RIGHT!”

We miss you Jimmy.
