This past Thursday fashion designer Robert James held an in-store party/BBQ at his Orchard St. flagship store to announce the winners of the By Robert James photo contest. There was free beer, free burgers and some majorly good vibes. First prize was a Nikkon SLR digital camera, second prize was a $400 By Robert James gift certificate. Our boy Miguel took home 2nd place (see the photo below). He immediately spent that shit on a Jacket. Stoke!
You ever get so shitwasted on Jack Daniels that you wake up at the Bedford L stop boiled, missing an arm, with a red balloon tied to your ass? The only way to deal with it is to just kind of lie there while some white hippie shotguns you rips through a didgeridoo.
[ED - There will be a real post about this soon, with further details, just getting this up to satisfy the fiends on the Riot Style Twitter.]
Some more photos of The Bronx, this time from their CMJ showcase at Fontana’s in NYC. The Bronx are currently touring Europe in support of their third self-titled album The Bronx (III). Click through for more grainy flics.
Here’s some photos of The Bronx from their recent show at Maxwell’s in NJ.
In addition to The Bronx and their Mariachi band El Bronx, Matt and Joby moonlight in The Drips. Be on the lookout for a special collabo from Riot Style and The Drips in ’09. More photos after the jump.
If you don’t know Fucked-Up you better axe someone. They are pretty much the best active hardcore band right now (sorry Municipal Waste & Government Warning). So good no one cares that they’re Canadian and that says something. They sound like Total Chaos, except good and without the liberty spikes and they occasionally rock gear from our boys Death/Traitors.
Hi I’m Damien, This Is Moby
If you’d never met their lead singer Damien you might think he is one mean-ass-sonofabitch but he’s the chewy nougat center of the punk rock universe™. He is basically the punk-rock-dad version of Captain Lou Albano from the Girls Just Want Wanna Have Fun video, minus the hair.
So, try as I might to hate, the Diesel 30th anniversary party was pretty damn awesome. A visibly preggers MIA straight killed it. Her baby bump was covered in so much asymmetrical 80′s-print spandex it looked like a Balzac. The show featured surprise performances from TI, Franz Ferdinand and Chaka Khan. Here’s some live video of MIA’s performance of her single Paper Planes, with Rye Rye and N.E.R.D.
The Colette x Gap Pop-Up Store is ending its month long run on NY’s 5th avenue. The store contained exclusive Colette x Gap merchandise by artists / labels like Jack Spade, Neckface, Claw Money, Repetto, Converse and more. We managed to smuggle out a few shots before we were stopped by a store employee. More pics after the jump.
