RIP: MURRAY BOWLES REST IN PEACE!
We lost one of the greats of punk, rock and hardcore punk photography. Murray Bowles was doing this way before you ever were and it was beyond cool to think he even followed us or liked some of our posts.
Please check his photos out if you don’t know him and take a few minutes to learn something from someone who was still doing it right up until the end. RIP @murraybowles
REST IN PEACE: DAVID KING CRASS STENCIL LOGO GRAPHIC DESIGN ARTIST RIP
We were very bummed to learn this weekend of David King’s passing. Many people think of Black Flag’s logo as one of the most iconic in rock history but you know its really the CRASS symbol.
David King’s visual language was the basis for the real DIY aesthetic, fearless and uncompromising it became adopted globally. We can still remember seeing the CRASS logo stenciled everywhere well into the late 90s.
Here is an unreleased CRASS-inspired shirt / sticker design from Riot Style that Wolf™️ had been working on, from our archives. We may make a few of these available in the future.
RIP DAVID KING
Bushwick Bill is gone but not forgotten. Throwback Thursday shoutouts to the LEGEND Bushwick Bill! We all miss you homie. Photo of Bushwick Bill by The Wolf™️ (Riot Style).
If you are going to be in NYC tomorrow Oct. 4th be sure to check out the NY premiere of the new documentary “Bushwick Bill Gheto Boy” at the Bushwick film festival in Brooklyn, NY.
Not all rock stars are dicks. Some have Muffs. Rest In Peace to Kim Shattuck from The Muffs.
“We are still trying to process this, but HIP-HOP LEGEND and friend of the label Bushwick Bill has left the building. RIP BUSHWICK BILL. Bill was absolutely a one of a kind human being. It was real to know him. Maybe one day you all will get to see what we were working on cooking up with Bill! Respect to his entire family.” – WOLF
Enid’s bar in Williamsburg Brooklyn is closing. This place is so synonymous with a certain period in many of our staff and bands’ lives. This bar heralded the era of “transformation” that would subsequently grip most of northern Brooklyn and as such it must now be put to death and consumed by the insatiable Ouroboros of gentrification on March 31st. Pour some out for your homies and raise your hand if you got some in the Bathroom. At least there’s still Turkey’s Nest!? Photo via Time Out New York
