REST IN PEACE: HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAY ADAMS (DOGTOWN VENICE Z-BOYZ) RIP! PHOTO BY GLEN FRIEDMAN.

Rest In Peace to Jay Adams who was born on this day, February 3rd 1961. He would have turned 59 years old today. Glen Friedman posted this classic photo he took of Jay Adams on his Instagram account and had some words to say:

JAY ADAMS would have been 59 years old today if he was still around.

1976, kick-turning on vertical, hand on the wall! RADICAL! The only way he knew how to be. This photograph from my first roll of color slide film, same roll my first ever published photograph came from, Jay was 15 years old, i was 14…

When you swipe left you see the last time i made a photo with Jay, i think it was 2011 at the VENICE skatepark. The following year we would both be inducted into The SkateBoarding Hall of Fame, he told me he was stoked we were going in the same year, along with Peggy Oki and some other friends
— Glen Friedman

Respect to all the OG Venice Dogtown Z-Boyz and Suicidal locals.

Kick Ass The Movie – Era x Vans

Kick Ass The Movie - Era x Vans

Here’s a look at the Kick-Ass x Vans Movie collabo sneakers. This new yellow and green canvas colorway of the classic Vans Era is inspired by the costume of the main character in the new Kick-Ass movie (based on the Marvel Icon comic book). Kick-Ass stars McLovin from Superbad and that one dude from Ghost Rider and Valley Girl. *plug* *plug*

Vans hooked us up with a pair of these and we are clearly not immune to bribery.

Also, for some reason Chris from TSS is completely obsessed with this movie. More pics after the crump…

UPDATE
So it looks like Vans only made 100 Pairs of these and they will not be available in stores. So, no. You can’t have them. Stop asking.

KCDC x Neckface x Vans Chukka Low – Ltd. Edition

Check out these Vans that just came out as part of the official KCDC / Vans / Neckface collabo. For those of you that don’t know, KCDC is a local skateshop / clothing store / occasional party space here in Brooklyn. These are totally different than the previous Neckface / Vans that dropped last year.

The shoes are a suede and canvas chukka low, with a 4-color design by Neck Face and the KCDC logo stiched onto the heel. These bad boys are limited to 100 pairs, but we heard rumors there’s only like 85 up for sale.

You can only score these shoes at KCDC. For an extra 10 bucks they’ll throw in a matching KCDC t-shirt.
